Piston rod blanks

Piston rod blanks for hydraulic applications are upset forged from a single piece blank.

The metal stock is heated to forging temperature. The upset forging process gathers metal and increases the diameter of the stock.

The upset metal is then formed to shape (plate, t-head, eye) The upset forging process produces a final shape with good grain flow and structural integrity. The manufactured part can be supplied in the 'as forged' condition, or as a ‘rough’ pre-machined blank for subsequent final machining by others.
